Chapter 5. Compositing in Photoshop CS



Combining several pictures into one new image, or moving objects within a single photograph is a time-honored photographing technique. Photographers have been compositing images for as long as there have been negatives and prints that made such combinations possible. The process can be as simple as sandwiching two negatives together and printing the result, or using sophisticated digital techniques to nudge two pyramids closer together, as National Geographic did for its controversial February, 1982 cover story on Egypt. In either case, the result is the same: an image that never existed in real life.
