Working with Third-Party Filters

You’ve already seen that Paint Shop Pro includes many special effects for you, but additionally, there are hundreds of third-party filters, also called plug-ins, that you can use with Paint Shop Pro. Some are quite pricey whereas others are free. Look around on the Internet, and I think you’ll be quite pleased with what you find. Whether you choose Flaming Pear’s Blade Pro, Kai’s Power Tools, Alien Skin’s Eye Candy, or one of the hundreds of others, you’ll find unique special effects in each application.

Most third-party filters are compatible with Paint Shop Pro and typically have .8bf as the filename extension, such as swirleypop.8bf or bubblejets.8bf. The .8bf extension is not, however, a requirement in Paint Shop Pro 8.
