Saving as an Animated Picture for the Web

These conversion steps take any layered file and convert it to a series of GIF frames (animated .gif file). Displayed on a Web page in rapid succession, a simple but effective animation sequence can be created. For example, text on successive layers appears to pop onto a background image.

With a multilayered image in the active image area, choose File, Save for Web.

In the Preset area, choose GIF as the file format.

Check the Animate box.

In the Animation section, check the Loop box (for continuous playback).

TIP

Easy Animation

You can control the animated sequence by reordering the layers of your image in the Layers palette before you convert to GIF.

Step through to preview the animation by clicking the Next Frame button.

Click OK.

Click Save.
