Part 1. Learning the Ropes > Starting Photoshop Elements and Opening a Picture

Starting Photoshop Elements and Opening a Picture

Photoshop Elements has two working modes: Quick Fix mode, for making instant automated image corrections, and Standard Edit mode, for more complex operations. To use either, you first have to start Elements and open your image.

Double-click the Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 icon on the Windows Desktop to start the program.

Click the Edit and Enhance Photos button or the Quickly Fix Photos button to work on an existing photo.

TIP

Welcome Back

Click the arrow next to Start Up in to choose a different startup option. You can have Elements open the Editor or Organizer rather than showing the Welcome screen. If you want it back, choose Window, Welcome from the menu bar.

Choose File, Open from the menu bar.

Navigate to the folder where your image files are stored.

Click the file you want to open.

Click the Open button. The picture opens in the active image area.
