Part 2. Getting It All Together > Moving Images from Camera to Your Computer

Moving Images from Camera to Your Computer

Most digital cameras and camera phones come with their own software for browsing image files and uploading them to your computer. However, you can use the steps described here to transfer files from most digital picture devices using the built-in functions of Photoshop Elements.

Connect the smaller end of the data cable to the camera, and the larger end to the USB port of your PC.

Turn the camera power on.

Double-click the program icon on the Windows Desktop to start Photoshop Elements.

In the Welcome screen, click View and Organize Photos.

TIP

Getting There from Here

If you're already working in Photoshop Elements when you want to import photos, click the Photo Browser button in the Editor's shortcuts bar.

TIP

What's in a Name?

Photoshop Elements automatically puts your images into a folder it names with the current date and time. You can specify a different name for the folder by clicking New Name and typing the name you want to use.

Choose Camera or Card Reader in the Get Photos from menu in the Shortcuts bar.

Choose your camera from the pop-up menu.

Click the boxes under the thumbnails to select the photos you want to import.

Click Get Photos.
