Changing a Color Photo to Black and White

You'll occasionally need black-and-white pictures for newsletters that will be printed one-color—or perhaps when you're in a vintage-movie kind of mood. You can easily convert your color shots to B&W, but remember to finish by adjusting the contrast to make them suitably snappy.

With a color picture in the active image area, choose Image, Mode, Grayscale.

Click OK.

Choose Enhance, Auto Contrast.
