Chapter 1. Getting Started with Photoshop CS > Adding and Subtracting Palettes

Adding and Subtracting Palettes

Photoshop's palettes give you access to everything from color control to vector path information. By default, the main palettes in Photoshop display along the right side of your monitor window. When you work in Photoshop, you may find it necessary to add or subtract specific palettes from your workspace; or you may just want to group several high-use palettes into one group. Controlling your workspace in this manner gives you a greater sense of control over the creative process. According to a study conducted at Yale, the more control and organization you exert over a program, the more your creative side (right brain) is free to think creatively.

Add a Palette

Select a palette by clicking on the named palette.

Drag the palette into another group.
