Actions in Illustrator

Actions are simply prerecorded steps. You can use them to perform a series of tasks with a single click. Illustrator installs, by default, two dozen Actions, and many more are available free or at minimal cost on the Web. However, the true power of Actions comes to the fore when you write your own custom Actions. You can even share your Actions with others and load their Actions for your own use and customization.

Virtually anything you can do in Illustrator, an Action can do for you. Some Actions are completely automated and can run without any input from a human operator; other Actions require you to enter specific values for certain procedures. Illustrator also enables you to specify whether to use the values originally recorded with an Action or to pause the Action for you to input new values.
