Using Blending Modes

Any time two colors overlap, one of two things can happen: The upper color can block the lower completely, or the two colors can interact. Blending modes determine how a color interacts with colors below it. As you can see in Figure 34.26, blending modes are controlled through the Transparency palette.

Figure 34.26. Several of the 16 blending modes have near-identical effects on a specific pair of two colors but may have radically different effects on two other colors. Select an object on the artboard or in the Layers palette to change its blending mode.
