Enabling Version Cue

Once the Adobe Creative Suite is installed, you'll find folders for each component program in the location specified during the install. On Windows, that's the Program Files\Adobe folder by default. The default install location for Macintosh is the Applications folder. Before you can use Version Cue, the Creative Suite programs must be prepared and Version Cue itself must be enabled. Here's how to set up each of the Creative Suite component programs to use Version Cue:

  • Photoshop CS— Start Photoshop. In Preferences, File Handling, check the box Enable Version Cue Workgroup File Management. Close the Preferences dialog box and quit Photoshop.

  • Illustrator CS— Start Illustrator. In Preferences, File Handling & Clipboard, check the box Enable Version Cue. (And while you're there, if you'll be using Illustrator with Photoshop, also check the AICB check box in the lower part of the dialog box so that the two programs can transfer artwork smoothly.) Close the Preferences dialog box and quit Illustrator.

  • InDesign— Start InDesign. In Preferences, File Handling, check the box labeled Enable Version Cue. Close the Preferences dialog box and quit InDesign. (You need to restart this program for Version Cue to be enabled.)

  • GoLive— Version Cue is enabled by default in GoLive.

  • Adobe Acrobat 6.0— Acrobat 6.0 does not use Version Cue.
