Vectors in Photoshop

Photoshop CS uses vector paths in a variety of ways. For example, vector clipping paths are used to designate part of an image as transparent for a page layout program. Vector paths are also used with Photoshop's shape layers. Type in Photoshop also uses vector paths.

The following sections provide a brief overview of Photoshop's vector capabilities. For more in-depth discussions, see Chapter 11, “The Pen Tool and Shape Layers: Vectors in Photoshop,” p. 363, and Chapter 12, “Adding Text: Photoshop's Type Capabilities,”p. 389.
