Plotting the Pixel's X,Y Coordinates

How can there be more than one pixel in the same place?

When the file is saved in a format that doesn't support layers or is sent to a printer, there is, in fact, just a single pixel in each location in the image. However, when working with layers in Photoshop (or TIFF) file format, you can have one pixel for each location on each layer. The location, measured from the upper-left corner as an X,Y coordinate, exists on each layer independently.
