Chapter 18. Mastering the Blending Modes > Working with Blending Modes

Working with Blending Modes

You can use Photoshop's blending modes while working with painting tools or when applying them to a layer. When a blending mode is applied to a layer, every pixel on the layer is affected. (Each blending mode is explained individually later in this chapter.) Keep in mind, too, that layer blending modes are live, meaning they can be changed at any time, as long as the image's layers are intact.

Blending modes enable you to make artwork interact in ways that would be very difficult to replicate manually. For a look at some of the incredible things that can be done with Photoshop's blending modes, explore Juice Drops from Digital Juice (www.digitaljuice.com).
