Chapter 17. Manipulating Color and Tonal... > Color Adjustment and Effects Command...

Color Adjustment and Effects Commands

Photoshop has a number of commands for directly altering the color of an image. Consolidated under the Image, Adjustments menu, they offer a variety of techniques and procedures to give you ultimate control over the appearance of your image.

The color adjustment and effects commands can be used with Curves and Levels. Remember that proper monitor calibration and appropriate color-management settings are critical to getting good results with these commands. If you are not accurately seeing color onscreen, your decisions are not based on the actual image content. Likewise, if your color-management profiles are inappropriate for the image's destination, the colors you see are unlikely to be the colors actually produced.
