Mastering Illustrator

Appearances and graphic styles are among the most powerful tools in Illustrator. They allow you to change the look of an object without actually changing the object itself. Whether you need to change the size, shape, color, or effects applied to an object, the other characteristics will conform to the new look. They can be applied to objects, groups, or layers.
