Although Photoshop is primarily a raster image–editing program, it does have some rather powerful vector tools. If you've had experience working with Adobe Illustrator, paths and vector shapes are familiar ground. (Remember, though, that there are substantial differences between Illustrator's objects and Photoshop's shape layers.) If you don't work with the Pen tool and vectors in Photoshop, you may be surprised at the level of precision they can make available to you. And with Photoshop CS's new type-on-a-path capability, the Pen tool grows in importance.
