Modes Versus Models

I'm not sure I understand the difference between a color mode and a color model. Which is which?

Remember that color mode refers to the image as a whole, specifying how the colors are recorded in the actual file. (It can also be referred to as a color space.) A color model, on the other hand, is a system of defining color. The color model is used to assign the attributes or components of a specific color, perhaps to add that color to an image.
