Chapter 1. What's New in Photoshop 7 > Saving Workspaces and Tool Presets

Saving Workspaces and Tool Presets

No matter what you do with Photoshop, it's probable that you have to switch settings for one or more tools while you do it. Likewise, to maximize efficiency, you need to arrange the floating palettes in a way that makes some palettes more accessible than others. Changing between tool options and palette arrangements is much quicker with Photoshop 7's new capabilities.

Arranging Your Screen

Photoshop's preferences have long been able to remember the last-used arrangement of palettes. That isn't lost in Photoshop 7—when the program is next started, the palettes return to their most recently used positions. However, the last-used palette locations might not be appropriate for the next task. Photoshop and ImageReady now enable you to save multiple palette arrangements and switch among them through the Window menu (see Figure 1.13).
