Photoshop in Focus

Among the most powerful of Photoshop's new features is the capability to save tools with specific options. The Tool Presets, in fact, may soon rank with Layers and the History palette as “indispensable.” Get a head start on Tool Presets by preparing the Type tool.

1.
Start by looking at several of your most recent projects, and determine what type settings you're most likely to use.

2.
Select the Type tool in the Toolbox.

3.
In the Options Bar or Character and Paragraph palettes, set the tool to your typical settings for headline type.

4.
In the Tool Presets palette menu, choose the command New Tool Preset. Save the settings as Headline Type.

5.
Change the Type tool's settings to a typical body text configuration.

6.
Save the preset as Body type.

7.
Save additional Type tool configurations using settings that are common to your projects and recognizable names.
