Colorizing and Tinting Techniques

In the “Less Quick Fixes” section earlier in this chapter, an old sepia print was converted to grayscale before correcting it. Now you can convert it back to sepia—or whatever color you want.

Simple Colorization

Probably the easiest way to colorize an old image is to convert it back to RGB. Next, choose Image, Adjustments, Hue/Saturation, and select the Colorize check box. Making sure that the Preview check box is selected, drag the sliders, starting with Hue, until you find a tint or color you like (see Figure 21.38).
