Working with History

Photoshop's History palette and History Brush work together to help you selectively adjust areas of an image to a previous state. However, the History Brush is far more than merely a “selective undo” tool. Instead of simply reversing the most recent procedure, you can revert to any prior stage of the image's appearance, as long as it's available in the History palette.

Using History to Restore Images

In many respects, Photoshop's history capabilities are merely conveniences. They don't do anything you can't accomplish otherwise in Photoshop. Consider this procedure for improving a photo of a face:
