Resizing Canvases and Images

The Image menu contains a pair of commands that change an image's size. The Canvas Size command works like the Crop tool in its normal mode, deleting (or adding) an image area without changing the image that remains. Image Size resamples the image, maintaining the image appearance as much as possible while increasing or decreasing the number of pixels used to portray the image.

Resampling is the process of changing the number of pixels used to create the same picture. Interpolation is the formula for calculating the new pixel colors to best re-create the original image.
