Setting Screen Frequency and Angles

The first step in setting a screen frequency is to talk with your printer (the person who runs the press, not your desktop printer; you shouldn't talk to your office equipment). Because the line screen is determined by the printing press, and therefore the printer, it is pointless to “take a guess.”

Setting Screen Information in Photoshop

By default, Photoshop leaves all screen frequency, angle, shape, and similar settings up to the output device/provider. To change this default and enter your own customized settings, go to File, Print with Preview. (Photoshop 6 used the File, Print Options command.) At the bottom of the Print dialog box is a Show More Options check box. Select it, and the bottom of the dialog box unfurls to reveal more output options.
