Common Problems with Digital Camera Images

There are two quite common problems with digital cameras: noise and color cast. Noise is viewed in the image as spots of blue, red, green, or gray scattered throughout the picture. Even in grayscale, the noise is evident in the zoomed view in Figure 4.4.

Figure 4.4. At 25% zoom, the noise doesn't show. However, when zoomed to 200%, the colored artifacts are noticeable as an irregular grain in the image.
