Working with Color Pickers

Photoshop enables you to choose a color by using a color picker. Somewhat more sophisticated than the Color palette, Adobe's Color Picker is the default. However, you also have the option of using the color picker that comes with your operating system or a third-party plug-in color picker.

Choosing a Color Picker in Photoshop's Preferences

Using a color picker can give you greater control and more options for designating color. Both Macintosh and Windows offer their own system color pickers. Photoshop's General Preferences pane offers the option of using the system color picker, the Adobe Color Picker, or any appropriate third-party plug-ins installed on the system (see Figure 8.9).
