Chapter 18. Applying Photoshop's Filters > The Video and Other Filters

The Video and Other Filters

The Video filters relate to broadcast video production and screen captures from videotape. On NTSC video, there is a range of colors that are generally safe to prevent bleeding and oversaturation from one frame to the next. In addition, when screen captures are made from standard video (not DV), there are even/odd video fields from one frame to the next, and interlacing occurs, which can show horizontal lines through an image or make it seem as though two frames are visible on the same image. Choosing the De-Interlace filter removes either the even or odd fields from the image to clear it up.

The Other filters are a grab bag of filters that Adobe must not have known how to categorize. You can create strange effects with the Custom filter or choose the Offset filter to make seamless tiled images.
