Chapter 6. Show Me the Money: Portfolio Effects

This is where it all pays off. These are the effects that you can use when it's time to present your work to the client.


Whether it's in a Web portfolio, in a printed book, a brochure, or a flyer, this is where you go to add your finishing touches. This is where you learn how to add those little extras that make you and your work stand out from the crowd. This is where your “click click” turns into “bling bling!” Where your “tap tap” turns into “cha ching” Where your “pipp pipp” turns into your “ace-duce.” OK, I should've stopped with “bling-bling.” These are the kinds of effects that can transform you from a scrappy kid in the streets, struggling along with some off-brand 3-megapixel point-and-shoot, and turn you into a real playa, poppin' Cristal corks at one of P-Diddy's parties, and cranking off shots with your Nikon D2H. That is, provided you actually are a scrappy kid in the streets. If you're not, and instead you're a middle-aged wedding photographer from Grand Rapids, I don't think you'll make it past the bouncers where P-Diddy hangs. But it's certainly worth a try. It's all gravy.
