Chapter 3. THE ESSENTIAL SELECT MENU > SAVE AND LOAD SELECTION

SAVE AND LOAD SELECTION

Imagine you've spent the better part of 15 minutes making a perfect selection, and for some reason you inadvertently quit Photoshop or shut down the computer. You don't want to have to make that selection all over again. To preserve your selection work and sanity, you should use the Save Selection command to save and name your selections as alpha channels, which are visible on the Channels palette.

Use Save Selection whenever you've made a complicated, sweat-inducing selection; think, feel, or know that you'll be use a selection again; or when you need to stop working and want to continue where you left off in the selection process.
