WORKING WITH ALPHA CHANNELS

Every photographic image is made up of image channels—one for grayscale images, three for RGB (red, green, blue) and LAB (luminance and two color channels), and four for CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black)—and can support up to 56 channels, as listed in table 5.1.
