LAYERS PALETTE ANATOMY

Divided into five distinct areas—attributes, visibility and linking, position and naming, buttons, and fly-out menu—the Layers palette (figure 6.16) is command central for image compositing. It's the first place to look to activate, change, affect, delete, or manage layers.
