PHOTOGRAPHIC ESSENTIALS

Before making a single exposure, a professional photographer makes numerous decisions regarding camera equipment, lighting, studio considerations, and style. These decisions influence the look, feel, and quality of the image and can make or break the final composite. Planning ahead and making the right equipment choices and shooting decisions will always result in a better image.

Lenses

A lens is measured in terms of focal length, usually in millimeters, and light strength, which is how wide the diaphragm can open to work in low-light situations. The higher the focal length, the narrower the angle of view, the greater the magnification, and the larger the background is in relationship to the foreground, making the relationship between background and foreground more compressed.
