ABOUT THE CONTRIBUTORS

Mark Beckelman has been fascinated by the altered image since his first photography class in high school, where he sandwiched negatives and combined multiple images in his black-and-white darkroom. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photographic Illustration from Rochester Institute of Technology, Mark embarked on a commercial photography career with numerous large photographic studios before starting his own business in the early 1990s. In recent years, he has rediscovered the joy and passion of his early illustrative work through Photoshop and the digital process. Using his surreal graphic style, he produces thought-provoking imagery for the editorial, corporate, and advertising community. In 2003, Mark's image Thinking Outside the Box was one of 12 winners of the Adobe International Digital Imaging Competition. To see more of Mark's work, visit www.beckelman.com.

Wayne Palmer has had a passion for photography all his life. He has a degree in education from Bloomsburg State College, but his interest in photography kept him in the darkroom as much as he was in the classroom. He worked for Guardian Photo, Inc. for 13 years after he graduated, marketing photofinishing services on a national level. Wayne started his own business, Palmer Multimedia Imaging (www.palmermultimedia.com), in 1994, offering customer photographic, videographic, and digital-photo restoration services. Wayne teaches Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and Digital Photography in the Continuing Education department of the Pennsylvania College of Technology.
