Chapter 11. Working with Behaviors > Adding Pop-Up Menus to Your Designs

Adding Pop-Up Menus to Your Designs

The next area of behaviors that we will dive into are the powerful and configurable pop-up menus. The ability to build pop-up menus in Fireworks showed up in the last version of Fireworks—Fireworks 4. Now, with MX, creating pop-up menus has become even better. Fireworks MX pop-up menu enhancements include greater control when creating pop-up menus, and are native within Fireworks MX and Dreamweaver MX. Using a new set of advanced controls, you can now create both horizontal and vertical pop-up menus. The improved code means that now these DHTML menus can dynamically relocate themselves when the trigger is relatively positioned within the document.

Creating and Editing Pop-Up Menus

Pop-up menus appear when the user’s cursor is placed over a trigger image that resides on a web page. When the mouse moves over the desired menu item, a list of items that link to other pages or submenu items, which is common in PC and Mac software applications, are displayed.
