Understanding the Code Behind the Image Map

Although Fireworks automatically generates all the coordinates and HTML tags that you need to get your image map running on your web page, you must understand what’s going on behind the scenes. There are two parts to the HTML image map code: the <IMG> tag and the <MAP> tag.

The <MAP> element defines a map that associates locations on an image with a destination URL or another function, such as a JavaScript command. Each hotspot is defined by an <AREA> tag:
