Chapter 1. Producing Awesome Images from... > A Brief Diversion into Fonts

A Brief Diversion into Fonts

If you're going to use a typeface in Photoshop, you can't load it while you have Photoshop running. And it would be a stone-cold drag to have to quit Photoshop in this chapter to load one measly font, so here's the story before you go and get creative in this chapter.

Meet Nick and His Fonts

Nick Curtis is a dashingly handsome and terribly creative guy. He makes fonts, and I am even on a first-name basis with him. Because Photoshop is so typographically oriented, I asked Nick to lend us a few of his original font creations to be used in examples in this book. They are wonderful fonts, and I want you to dig into the Examples/Chapt01 folder of the companion CD right now and install GuinnessExtraStoutNF.otf before you launch Photoshop. This font is bi-platform, so Mac users, load the font in your System/Fonts folder, and Windows users, load the font in the Control Panel, Fonts folder.
