44. “Reimport” Moved Files

As you are probably well aware by now, the Photoshop Album catalog is not a collection of media files, but rather a listing of those files and their various locations on your hard disks, CDs, and DVDs. Because Photoshop Album does not store the actual media files, it is unaware of any file maintenance activities you perform on the files outside of the program. If, for example, you move a file from one folder into another, Photoshop Album assumes that the file has simply disappeared. Similar problems arise if you rename or delete a file outside of Photoshop Album. To properly rename a file, make the change within Photoshop Album as described in 56 Rename an Image. To delete a file from the Photoshop Album catalog and from the hard disk, see 43 Remove an Item from the Catalog.
