Q&A

Q1:When do you use the Blur filter instead of the Blur tool?
A1: You can apply the Blur tool to an area as small as a single pixel, because it uses brush shapes. The filter blurs the whole image or any part you have selected. Use the filter for large areas, and the tool for small ones.
Q2:Why do some filters seem to take a long time to apply? How do I know the computer hasn’t just crashed?
A2: There’s an awful lot of math involved in some of these filters. If you have an older, slower computer, it’s going to take time. You should see a flashing line under the preview image in the dialog box while the computer’s thinking.
Q3:The cloud filter I applied has the clouds in the wrong place. Is there any way to change it?
A3: Each time you apply the filter, it calculates new clouds. You may have to try it several times to get a cloud that works with the rest of the picture.
