Q&A

Q1:The thing I need to straighten isn’t straight. It should be at a 45° angle. I just can’t seem to rotate it the right amount. Any ideas?
A1: Do you know you can draw a line at precisely that angle? Hold down the Shift key, and drag a line at approximately that angle. It will magically snap between 45°, 90°, and 180°. If you are using it as a guideline, be sure to keep it on a separate layer that you can hide or discard.
Q2:How can I use Liquify to make a swirling, Art Deco kind of background?
A2: Start with a gradient with the appropriate colors. (You’ll learn about gradients in Hour 22, “Creating Art from Scratch.”) Then, select Filter, Distort, Liquify; select a big brush, and swirl with either of the Twirl tools until you like what you have.
