Summary

This has certainly been a busy hour. You learned about black-and-white retouching. First, you learned to make simple fixes. You learned how to read a histogram, and how to set levels on a black-and-white photo. You learned about dodging and burning and how to use these effects. Then, we looked at more complicated damage. You learned to use the Clone Stamp tool to replace dust, scratches, and other damage with a good piece of the picture. You learned about removing color to get rid of sepia toning and spilled coffee. You learned to use the Eyedropper tool, and how to make a vignette. Finally, you learned a couple of ways to put back color. You learned how to imitate a duotone, and how to colorize a drawing. That’s a lot for one hour, so be sure to practice your new skills before you move on.
