Summary

This was a short but very important hour. You learned the steps for basic photo cleanup, something you should do with every image you open, before you get fancy by applying filters, changing colors, or using any of the hundreds of tricks Elements can do. You learned to remove small objects that might distract from the subject of your photo. You learned all about red eye, in both people and critters. We discussed what causes it, how to prevent it, and two different ways to remove it. Then we talked about some ways to remove dust and scratches from your photos. You learned about the Dust & Scratches and Despeckle filters, and that they don’t always work. You also learned about the Unsharp Mask filter, and how it can help with a dusty scan while adding extra sharpness and contrast.
