Summary

We spent this hour on color. We focused mainly on color photo restoration, but also on working with hand-colored photos and using the color selection tools. You learned all about color casts—what causes them and how to remove them—and about selective color correction. We improved a photo by coloring the grass and sky, fixing the brownish color cast, and lightening the shadows. You learned how to use the Blur and Sharpen tools to work on small parts of a picture, and how to use the Sponge to change saturation. We talked about how to use the Smudge tool to gently soften a line, and how to use it in Finger Paint mode to really push pixels around. You learned about fixing composition problems in a color image. Finally, we covered hand-coloring, and how to apply it so that it looks right.
