Hour 23. Building Your Own Brushes and P... > Task: Plant Some Grass with the Gras...

Task: Plant Some Grass with the Grass Brush

1.
Start a new image. Choose the Grass brush. It’s about three-quarters of the way down the Default Brushes menu. (You can see the names of the brushes if you hold the cursor over the Brushes palette.)

2.
Choose an appropriate green for your foreground color and another green for your background color. A combination of light green and dark green works well. Set Opacity to 100%. You don’t need to adjust the Color Jitter; it’s already set to 100%.

3.
Plant grass to make a nice green meadow. If you want, find the Scattered Wildflower brush. (It’s in Special Effect brushes.) Change the foreground and background colors to something more flowerlike, and turn on spring. You might want to change the spacing and the amount of scatter. To flip between the foreground and background colors, adjust the Color Jitter value. You know how. Just open the More Options palette and use the sliders.

Your finished picture might look something like Figure 23.11.
