Using Entities When Styling

It is tempting to refer to the use of entities to define styles as the fifth of the techniques for defining styles in SVG. In fact, entities can be applied with individual properties or when using the style attribute.

The use of entities is, strictly speaking, an XML technique rather than an SVG one. If you, or a designer colleague, use Adobe Illustrator to generate SVG graphics, you will almost certainly meet many entities in all but the simplest code (as you saw in Chapter 2, “Document Structure in SVG”).
