Summary

This chapter described each type of transformation that SVG provides, building on your understanding of coordinate systems from Chapter 5. Transformations can consist of moving an object to a new position onscreen (translate() transformations), rotating an object onscreen (rotate() transformations), changing the size of an object (scale() transformations), or distorting the shape of an object (skewX() and skewY() transformations). All simple transformation types were demonstrated.

The SVG DOM Interfaces for transformation were also described. Some examples of scripting the DOM to produce timed or interactive changes in transformation were shown.
