Survey Statistics

And now, finally, we will look at SVG. In the previous sections, we developed quite complex code that created the data structure for a survey, established a framework for administering Web-based surveys, and wrote a script that allowed users to complete the surveys. Now we are interested in looking at graphic results of the surveys. SVG is a great technology for creating nice-looking graphics. And you can create your program with XML elements; that is, you “program” the chart, you do not paint it. It is a logical step to compute these graphics dynamically, given an existing data source.

The previous listings in this chapter laid the foundation for a great amount of data. This is the place where we will interpret this data, but instead of tons of boring numbers and statistics, we will add some eye candy and create pie charts.
