Summary

This chapter introduced the topics of clipping, masking, and compositing in SVG. Clipping “cuts out” a defined shape for rendering. Masking additionally allows the transparency (or opacity, if you prefer) of the shape to be adjusted, in potentially complex and subtle ways. You also saw some of the ways you can apply these techniques of clipping and masking in SVG images.

The final section of the chapter described the SVG DOM interfaces related to clipping and masking.
