I would like to thank all the members of the svg-developers mailing list who have made learning about the exciting new graphics format, SVG, so much fun. The input on the list from Chris Lilley and Jon Ferraiolo has been particularly valuable. I would also like to thank Chris for taking time from his busy schedule to contribute his unique perspectives on SVG to this book. I would like to thank the technical editors, Kevin Lindsey and Niklas Gustavsson, for the quality of their comments on draft text. I would also like to thank all those at Sams Publishing who have helped get this project off the ground and through to completion: Jennifer Kost-Barker, Jill Reed, Heather Goodell, Elizabeth Finney, and Mark Taber. —Andrew Watt

I would like to acknowledge the members of the first and second W3C SVG Working Groups who put so much time and effort into the SVG specification and test suite; the programmers who created implementations of SVG to let us know what parts of the emerging specification worked and what needed fixing; and the members of the svg-developers mailing list who created content, fully exercised the specification, and gave valuable detailed feedback. All of this made the SVG specification much better than it would otherwise have been. It was, and continues to be, a privilege to work with such a great community. —Chris Lilley

I'd like to thank the “Golden Girls” at Sams Publishing (but they are much younger!), in alphabetical order: Elizabeth, Heather, and Jill. Without you, this book would not be in this excellent shape. Furthermore, many thanks to the excellent technical reviewers who found more than one embarrassing mistake on my side. Finally, shout-outs to Marsha and Vic. —Christian Wenz

Many thanks to Jill, Heather, Jennifer, and Elizabeth at Sams Publishing and the other authors and editors for their help, and making this a pleasure. Special thanks to Andrew for his support, contagious enthusiasm, and remarkable determination. Thanks to the Batik developers and Jim Ley, Dave Pawson, Sean B. Palmer, and William Loughborough for all their help and inspirational work; and of course the folks on the svg-developers, wai-ig, and rdf-interest lists for constant stimulation. Thanks as ever to Caroline for her tolerance and patience. —Danny Ayers

I would like to acknowledge the W3C and specifically the SVG Working Groups. Their efforts have given me the unique opportunity to be a part of a wonderful and ever-growing SVG community. SVG continues to fascinate me, and as I dig deeper into the specification, I gain renewed admiration for the efforts of the SVG Working Groups. I would also like to acknowledge Andrew Watt for talking me into participating in this book, Jill Reed for keeping the project focused and running smoothly, the svg-developers list for helping me to better understand SVG, and to all of you who have given me encouragement to continue exploring the possibilities of SVG. —Kevin Lindsey
