Hour 2. Image Collection and Management

The first step in any graphics project is to assemble the images that you’re going to be working with. Next, you must cull the images you need from all the images you have available. This can be an important part of the creative process. You can store thousands of images on a compact disk, but you’ll likely use only a few dozen in a Web site. Choosing just the right images can be critical, and being able to find them later is always a plus.

Today you’ll be working with a few different applications available with your operating system. All the applications you’ll cover are either bundled with your system software or are freely available on the Web. Some steps require special hardware, such as a scanner, that may come with its own software. Consult the hardware documentation on how to connect your hardware, install necessary drivers, and use any bundled applications.
