Workshop

The Quiz following Q&A will ask some questions about the topics covered in this chapter. In case you can’t recall an answer quickly, simply refer to the quiz answers afterward for an explanation.

Q&A

Q1:When I open Fireworks, I can’t find anything you’re talking about. Where are the tools, panels, and Property Inspector?
A1: If you aren’t running Fireworks for the first time, you or someone else may have made changes to the panel layout. To quickly return to the default, click the Commands menu and then choose Panel Layout Sets, 800 × 600. To bring up the Welcome screen, expand the Answers panel, choose Getting Started from the drop-down menu, and click on What’s New or Tutorials to access the content from the Welcome screen.
Q2:All my panels have disappeared completely! What’s going on?
A2: Pressing the Tab key quickly hides all of your panels. Pressing it again brings them back. If all of your panels have been undocked and closed, you can find them in the Window menu at any time. If you can’t even find the menus, press F to cycle through the Screen Modes until the menus are visible at the top of the screen.
Q3:I can’t find the Sample Pictures or Desktop Pictures folder on my hard drive. What happened?
A3: You or someone else may have deleted these folders to make more room on the hard drive. For the purposes of this hour, any image file will do. If you can’t find any, open your favorite Web browser, find a picture you like on the Web, and save it by right-clicking (Windows) or click-and-holding (Macintosh) on the image and selecting Save As from the pop-up menu. Save the image to your My Pictures (Windows) or Pictures (Macintosh) folder and repeat the steps covered earlier to open a file from within Fireworks.
