Now you should be comfortable editing bitmaps, at both the pixel and the object levels. A lot of bitmap editing is destructive, and care must be taken to preserve copies of original images. Use objects to separate individual bitmap elements and editing decisions and create copies of your layers before merging or flattening them.

The previous hour, “Working with Bitmap Images,” and this one have focused on explaining the tools and how you can work with them, with tasks oriented toward understanding basic concepts. In the next hour, “Improving Photos,” you’ll put together all the skills you’ve learned in this section, along with some of the new tools available in Fireworks, to accomplish some tasks that are common when working with bitmaps and photos.
